Friday, At Club Congress: Ryanhood and Year of Acceleration

So, this Friday, the Friday before the ever-dreadful Prom Saturday, there's going to be an outdoor concert at Club Congress, featuring Ryanhood and The Year Of Acceleration. I thought it would be only appropriate to make a little post about them. Here I go:

Ryanhood

Lately they've been gaining a following down here in Tucson for their non-abrassive quasi-folk style of acoustic rock. I'm actually not too big a fan, but I have to hand it to them, they are excellent musicians, technical skill-wise. However, they're nothing too new, but nothing bad. Listenable, really. I think they'll make for a fine concert.

The Year of Acceleration

I guess they sound like U2 and some other band. I don't know. I do know that they make an almost wall-of-sound approach to their sound, but with more clarity. But I think that the U2 comparison isn't too far off. I could see these guys fitted with leather pants, slicked back hair, and $1000 sunglasses, belting out ballads about being free. Anyway, it's not a bad thing. I enjoy 'em. I think they'll also make for quite a fine concert too.
