The Year of Acceleration and Ryanhood live at Club Congress

So earlier on Alexsey posted a preview for the Year of Accleration and Ryanhood concert down at Club Congress. Well thanks to my sister, I was able to go to the concert. Beforehand I had downloaded a lot of The Year (I'd recommend Static on a Record or Loverblood) stuff and I really liked it.

However in concert I was really dissapointed in them. They were really awkward on stage, the vocals were out of tune, and the music was blaring. Also they modified some of their songs (like a lot of bands do during concerts), however their modifications were really offsetting and ruined the best parts of some songs. The crowd did not get into it and it almost seemed like they were just background music at a huge social gathering, rather than the main attraction that people pay money to see.

So I was really thankful when Ryanhood took the stage. Unlike the Year, I had not had much of a chance to listen to Ryanhood beforehand because they are impossible to find for download online. But the concert took a complete 180 once they got onto stage. To put it simply, Ryanhood was amazing. The lead singer Cameron had really really good stage presence and was joking around with the audience throughout the concert. Also, the audience really got into it and was singing louder than the band at times. Their guitar solos were amazing, and their vocals were on key and perfectly in tune with each other. Their songs were catchy and there was a good amount of variety. Even though Ryanhood itself is just two guys and their guitars, they brought on a base player and a percussionist for half the songs. These songs were uptempo and lively and were a nice contrast to the acoustic nature of most of their other music. Overall I was really really glad that I got to go, and you should all and fetch yourselves their cd. Get it here.
